In 2018 bilateral trade between Bulgaria and Hungary grew by 5.3% to EUR 1.608 billion
Minister Emil Karanikolov: Equipment and parts, petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, accumulators, medicines, footwear products occupy a decisive share in the structure of Bulgarian exports to Hungary.
Economic co-operation between Bulgaria and Hungary is positive. In 2018, bilateral trade amounted to EUR 1.608 billion, an increase of 5.3%. Bulgarian exports to Hungary amounted to EUR 497.7 million, an increase of 7.9%, and imports from Hungary to EUR 1.110 billion, an increase of 4.2%. This was stated by the Minister of Economy Emil Karanikolov during the official opening of the Bulgarian-Hungarian Business Forum, which was held today in Budapest, reports the Economy Ministry. The forum was attended by Bulgarian and Hungarian companies from the sectors of agriculture, food industry, pharmaceutical and mechanical engineering, information technology and tourism.
Minister Karanikolov emphasized that political, economic and cultural co-operation exists between Bulgaria and Hungary, which makes bilateral relations a priority. “This forum is another step to unlock the great economic potential between our two countries,” Karanikolov added.
The Economy Minister said that in the structure of Bulgarian exports, equipment and parts, petroleum oils and oils from bituminous minerals, batteries, medicines, footwear industry occupy a decisive share. While imports from Hungary are distributed among medicines, cars, sugar, mineral fertilizers, apparatus and parts, electrical equipment. “It is important for us to maintain and expand the position of Bulgarian goods and services in the countries that are our traditional partners,” Karanikolov said.
