Bulgaria’s trade with Qatar has increased five times

Deputy Minister Alexander Manolev: More and more Bulgarian companies export to the Qatari market, and every year we see new growth in our exports

“Bulgaria has the potential and interest in increasing the export of pharmaceutical products, chemical industry, mechanical and electrical products, products and services of information and communication technologies, etc.,” said Alexander Manolev in Doha.

Our trade with the State of Qatar has increased five times in recent years. This trend shows interest and potential, although the levels achieved are still unsatisfactory. This was said by Deputy Minister of Economy Alexander Manolev during the opening of a bilateral business forum in Doha, the Economy Ministry said. The official inauguration of the event was attended by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, and the Minister of Trade and Industry of Qatar, Ali bin Ahmed Al Quari, the statement said.

“Bulgaria has the potential and interest to increase the export of pharmaceutical products, chemical industry, machine-building, and electrical products, products and services of information and communication technologies, etc.”, said Deputy Minister Manolev and noted that the levels in our bilateral commodity exchange is about $ 14 million. According to him, more and more Bulgarian companies are exporting to the Qatari market and every year we see a new growth of our exports. He congratulated the hosts on the serious infrastructure projects that are being implemented to prepare for hosting the World Cup in the Arab state in 2022. “Bulgarian construction companies have sufficient experience and technical capabilities to participate as subcontractors in these projects”, added the economic Deputy Minister. He presented in detail the advantages of Bulgaria as an investment destination and the strong sectors of our economy.

Bulgaria and Qatar will share experiences and direct investors to the industrial areas they manage. This is done under the Cooperation Agreement, which was signed by the National Company of Industrial Zones and Qatar Free Zones in the presence of Deputy Minister Manolev. He also spoke with the chairman of the organization, Ahmad bin Mohammed Al-Sayed. The two have agreed to organize reciprocal technical visits to the areas in order to identify specific projects in which to deepen the partnership.

Deputy Minister Manolev is in Qatar at the helm of a business delegation involving over 30 of our companies. The visit is part of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev to the Lebanese Republic and the State of Qatar.
